In a universe of walkers and non-walkers, it is usually easy to distinguish those who welcome the benefits of walking from those who’d rather drive five miles to the supermarket then walk up the block to the neighborhood store.
So, which are walkers and which are non-walkers?
Walkers are the ones who are always wearing comfortable shoes (or bring their tennis shoes in a tote bag everywhere). They never know when they will get the chance to do some unplanned walking on a lunch hour or along a beautiful new path they spot. Walkers are also the ones who carry water bottles everywhere. Walkers are the ones who take the stairs, instead of the elevator, and never seem to huff and puff after walking up a small flight. Their hearts are strong and prepared.
So, come walk with us. This is a free activity. Thirteen laps around our Arlington Heights Senior Center equals one mile. Join us as we stretch, laugh and walk and come away happier people.
Remember to log your miles in the logbook located in the Health Clinic. If you are interested in registering as a new walker, please fill out a registration form, found right by the logbook. We will assign you a walker’s number, so that you can keep track of all your miles (walked both at the Arlington Heights Senior Center and in your neighborhood).
Walkers, please stay on the designated walking path in the Senior Center. No other rooms are to be walked in as part of your exercise routine.
